Our environment is our greatest resource. From the fresh, cool waters of the Great Lakes to the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, our environment provides us with not only beauty, but many of the resources we need to live. Protecting it should always be one of our primary goals. Unfortunately, the past centuries have not been kind to our environment. Today we are faced with pollution and diminishing resources. Environment advocacy groups have been formed across the country to protect our environment.
Advocacy groups are designed to promote the health of the environment. In some cases the groups focus on a particular environmental issue while others are more inclusive of our environmental concerns. The advocacy groups work to educate the public about environmental issues, promote legislation aimed at protecting the environment and publicizing critical issues.
Today, one of the biggest pushes of advocacy groups surrounds the development of cleaner and more efficient forms of energy. From green care initiatives to changes in our electrical grid many advocacy groups believe that the solution to our environmental issues lie in alternatives energy sources.
Other groups push for increased recycling programs in communities across the country. In some cases, high school students have formed their own groups with the sole aim of increasing public awareness of recycling programs as well as access to recycling facilities.
Environment advocacy groups are promoting a grassroots effort to make our environment and our nation healthier and stronger. A cleaner environment, alternative energy sources and advanced recycling programs are just a few of the initiatives today’s environmental advocacy groups focus on.
