If you were to win the lottery with your earnings toping over 140 million dollars, what would you do with that money? Spending it all on your multiple houses, your swanky cars, and the hundreds and thousands of materialistic items is a possibility for you. A complete alternative would be to donate a large portion of your winnings to different charities that you feel could benefit from the extra cash flow?
What charities would you want to donate to? Donating to what you believe in is the most important decision. Do not donate to PETA if you enjoy a good burger or two. Donate to Habitat for Humanity if you enjoy being a part of helping a family build a place for others and for them to live. If you have a keen interest in performing arts, then often larger or surrounding cities have fine arts organizations that will gladly accept any type of financial donation.
Besides the end of donating financially comes the complete other end of the spectrum which is donating your time to an organization of your choice. Many people enjoy being a box office volunteer for a local theater productions opening show, or building a house for Habitat for Humanity, or even washing soap for Clean the World.
What ever you decide though, donating is always a healthy decision and a positive step in the right direction. It makes you feel better, like your life isn’t a waste. It makes you realize that there are bigger things in life then getting your spoiled way. It makes you spend time getting to know other people outside of your usual circle. It is donating something, giving something away that you don’t need, that you would have the possibility to waste away for some pointless spree. So, go donate yourself!
