Greyhound rescue groups are perhaps most well known of this type of group.
There are also many advocacy groups whose primary goal is research into various forms of cloning and genetic modification. There are actually a large number of pet owners and researchers dedicated to exploring the idea of cat cloning. Their goal is developing the technology to safely clone pets.
On other large group of advocates are celebrity based groups. These groups utilize the popularity and visibility of one or more celebrities to promote their animal agenda. PETA is perhaps most effective in this arena and utilizes high profile celebrities such as Pamela Anderson in their efforts. While they might be the most highly recognized organization there are hundreds of celebrity based organizations who aim to promote the welfare and health of animals in our country.
